sat receiver upgrade

I have successfully set up my brother with the sky uk package

He now wants to upgrade the sat receiver

Can he plug and play the new receiver and continue with  CS seamlessly?

Or is he tied down to the same receiver?

I was suggesting he gets a skybox given its support and forum availability

I am researching the user friendliness (good channel management) of this receiver at the moment

I am open to suggestions regarding receiver ( if you can suggest one)

We are going to subscribe to some addditional packages in the near future and would like to start with good platform
